Returning to Yellowstone - not like I expected it to be!

10/6/22 leaving work for the last time
When I left working for YPSS in Yellowstone National Park last October, I fully expected I'd be returning to work for them again this summer.  But as we all know, things change and we need to be flexible.  Fortunately for me, when the job situation in Montana didn't pan out the way I had hoped or expected . . . I was able to shift my focus back to working here in Wisconsin for the bowling industry with my former organization.  What started out as a limited part-time gig through May turned out to be a few more hours and a more long-term arrangement.

That said, I also knew that I wanted to do my annual summer trip west after the end of the bowling season so that is what I planned for.  I worked through Memorial Day weekend and then headed out for what would be just under two weeks road tripping and car camping along the way.

In planning my trip, I decided I would again take the northern route west, through North Dakota and Montana into Yellowstone.  For my return trip, I would drop south into Colorado to work my way east through Kansas & Missouri for the US Presidential Museums in Abilene (Eisenhower) and Independence (Truman).

Unlike prior trips that have been a mix of car camping and hotels, I also planned for this trip to be mostly camping . . . the first ten nights in fact!  I wasn't sure how I would hold up living out of a cooler and box of dry goods for such a long period of time . . . or how the weather would be for sleeping at night.

Everything worked out great!  Along the way, I met several very interesting people while also finding peace and solitude that vacationing solo provides.  I hope folks enjoy this blog as I share the stories and photos of the places and adventures I took in, as well as the new experiences I had.
